IDL at the Devonian Tides Meeting

Researcher of the Instituto Dom Luiz (IDL), Joao Moedas Duarte and Hannah Davies, participated in the Devonian Tides Meeting that took place in Uppsala between 21 and 23 August 2019. The theme of the meeting was the relationship between tectonics, tides, climate and the evolution of life from the Snowball period (~ 760-580 million years) to the formation of the next supercontinent, with particular focus on Devonian (~ 419 -359 million years). The meeting was hosted by Per Ahlberg and Hannah Byrne, paleontologists at the Department of Organismal Biology of the Uppsala University. The meeting was also attended by Mattias Green, reader in Physical Oceanography at the Bangor University, Michael Way from NASA and Steve Balbus, professor of Astronomy and Head of Astrophysics at the Oxford University. JoΓ£o Moedas Duarte and Hannah Davies have participated with two lectures entitled "Dynamics of Plate Tectonics" and "The Super Tidal Cycles of the Future, exploring the potential evolution of the Earth system as the next Supercontinent Forms," respectively.
