Ontogenetic Similarities Betweem Giraffe and Sauropod Neck Mobility
A study comparing neck mobility in sauropod dinosaurs and giraffes, in which participated the paleontologist of the Instituto Dom Luiz (IDL) Pedro Mocho, was recently published in Plos One. This work results from the collaboration between the IDL and an international team of researchers led by the Universidad Nacional de EducaciΓ³n a Distancia (UNED, Madrid). There were produced 3D models based on the digitalization of neck bones of adult and juvenile specimens of giraffes and of the sauropod dinosaur Spinophorosaurus nigerensis, which allowed to study the evolution of the movement capacity in sauropod dinosaurs during their development.Know more about this work here.
