National Climate Change Research Meeting
Portugal, and Lisbon in particular, is a region climatically determined by the strong influence of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic and is considered to be one of the most vulnerable to Climate Change. Global warming is the biggest challenge facing humanity in these coming decades, from global to local scale. One of the main ambitions of Lisbon European Green Capital 2020 consists of regional and local climate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with urban activities and to adapt and prepare the city for the main expected impacts. To achieve these objectives, it is essential to put researchers and society in dialogue, from economic actors to policymakers. The National Climate Change Research Meeting, held within the scope of the Lisbon European Green Capital 2020, aims precisely to gather and disseminate the excellent research on Climate Change produced by national research institutions.
The event, co-organized by the Faculdade de CiΓͺncias da Universidade de Lisboa and the CΓ’mara Municipal de Lisboa, includes round tables covering topics as diverse as climate modeling and sectoral impacts (ecosystems, economics, global and local political decision). It will take place in the Grande AuditΓ³rio de CiΓͺncias ULisboa, on February 17th and 18th, 2020.
In addition to the debate in the thematic sessions, participation in the event is open to the entire scientific community, who can present the results of their research in the form of a poster by submitting a summary through the form until the 10th of February.
