Jorge Ponte published a paper in JGR

Jorge Ponte, IDL Earthsystem PhD Student, has published a paper in JGR named  "The effect of speleothem surface slope on the remanent magnetic inclination"Speleothems (e.g stalagmites, stalactites) are recognized as excellent recorders of the Earth's magnetic field and are possible data sources to include in paleosecular variation models. In this article,  collected paleomagnetic data from a speleothem with a very particular shape,  allowed to perform a detailed study, for the first time, about the influence of the calcite layers angle on the recorded magnetization vector. This results are crucial for future paleomagnetic studies.Read the full paper here
