IDL Promotes a Short Course at the University of Saint Joseph (Macao)
The researcher of the Instituto Dom Luiz (IDL) Álvaro Madureira Pinto was in Macao in October 2019 conducting a short course on techniques of optical microscopy of polarized reflected light. The course was held at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) / ISE - Institute of Science and Environment of Macao. Ph.D. students, postdocs and researchers from three universities of Macao participated in this course: the University of Saint Joseph / Institute of Science and Environment (USJ / ISE), the University of Macao (UM) and the Macao University of Science and Technology (MUST). The geologist, researcher of the IDL, and executive director of the Mina de Ciência - Centro Ciência Viva do Lousal, also gave a series of lectures at the Escola Portuguesa de Macau for students from 5th to 11th grade. These activities are part of a collaborative project with the ISE, coordinated and led by the researcher of the IDL and professor at USJ, Ágata Alveirinho Dias. One of the main objectives of the project is to provide the USJ / ISE with facilities for the preparation of mineralogical and geological samples and of an optical microscopy laboratory.
